Trimble Accubid: Classic vs Anywhere, pricing and alternatives
Trimble Accubid is electrical estimating software that turns a takeoff into a priced bid with a material database, labor units and supplier pricing1. It comes in two versions: Accubid Classic, the original installed system, and Accubid Anywhere, a cloud subscription for electrical and industrial mechanical contractors2. Both link to Trimble LiveCount for takeoff3. Trimble doesn't publish Accubid prices; you request a quote.
What is Accubid?
Accubid software is electrical estimating software: the program an estimator lives in on bid week. You take off devices, fixtures, conduit and wire against assemblies, the software extends material prices and labor units into a bill of materials, and the closing screens add labor factors, indirect labor, subcontractors, quoted material, overhead and profit until you reach a final price. Trimble lists built-in labor units, labor factoring, cost codes, multi-level breakdowns by floor, system, area, cost code or drawing, and an instant bid summary that compares labor-to-material ratios and costs per foot, per system or per floor1.
The name goes back to Accubid Systems, which Trimble now sells as Trimble Accubid. Estimating 101, a training firm, credits Giovanni Marcelli as the founder of Accubid Systems4. Today “Accubid” usually means one of two estimating products, plus the tools around them:
- Accubid Classic, the installed electrical estimating system, whose estimating module Trimble's help articles call Accubid Pro15.
- Accubid Anywhere, the cloud version with estimating, takeoff and change management in one subscription2.
- LiveCount, Trimble's web-based takeoff tool, linked two ways to both versions3.
- Accubid ChangeOrder, the change order product for Classic6, and TRA-SER, Trimble's pricing service7.
If you're comparing Accubid with other suites, the electrical estimating software guide puts it next to McCormick, IntelliBid and the takeoff tools, with published prices where they exist. Shops bidding mostly larger work can go straight to estimating software for commercial electrical contractors, which focuses on multi-estimator jobs like the ones Accubid was built for.
Accubid Classic vs Accubid Anywhere
Both versions are electrical estimating software with labor units, assemblies and a link to LiveCount. The differences are where they run, how they're sold and what comes in the box. This table only uses what Trimble states on its own product and help pages.

Trimble Accubid Classic
Accubid Classic is the version most long-time electrical estimators learned on. Trimble describes it as the original full-featured electrical estimating solution and lists a database of over 42,000 items and 13,000 assemblies, dynamic takeoffs that calculate assembly component quantities as you go, live extensions from audit trail to bill of materials, and project-specific assemblies you can build on the fly1. Trimble also publishes datasheets for two subscription packages: Accubid Classic Estimating Essentials and Estimating Essentials Hosted. LiveCount's AI-powered takeoff is only available with the Hosted subscription1.
Accubid Classic versions and v16
Classic is installed software. Trimble's installation article tells customers to download the installer from the Trimble Community Portal with their username and password, and to choose the Core download for Accubid Estimating and ChangeOrder8. Version 16 moved licensing to Trimble ID: users sign in through a browser window when Accubid opens, and a license administrator assigns seats in Trimble's Account Experience portal. Trimble says you can keep running an older version while you set up v16, and asks customers on v13 or earlier to contact support for job conversion5.
Accubid classic cost
Trimble doesn't list a price for Classic or the Estimating Essentials subscriptions. The product page sends you to sales for a demo or pricing1.
Trimble Accubid Anywhere
Accubid Anywhere is the cloud version, aimed at electrical and industrial mechanical contractors. Trimble pitches one subscription that includes estimating, graphical takeoff and integrated material pricing, managed by Trimble, with estimators and project managers in different offices working from the same items, assemblies and projects2. Estimating is specification driven, so you can switch specs for bid alternates or value engineering, and you can define custom takeoff attributes such as conduit size or material type, and use your own productivity units or preloaded industry labor rates in multiple labor columns.
Two features set it apart from Classic on paper. Material, labor and vendor pricing from Trade Service is included rather than bought separately, and change management is built in instead of sold as a second product. The subscription also includes access to Trimble Connect, Submittal Manager, Supplier Xchange for bid-time supplier quotes and Advanced Image Manager, plus APIs to pull estimating data into other systems2. Trimble publishes case studies from Gaylor Electric and Jamerson & Bauwens on the same page.
Accubid Anywhere pricing and cost
Trimble doesn't publish an Accubid Anywhere price either. The page invites you to contact sales for pricing2. Because Trade Service pricing is included, compare an Anywhere quote with a Classic quote plus a TRA-SER subscription, not with Classic alone.
LiveCount: Accubid's takeoff tool
LiveCount is where the counting happens. Trimble describes it as web-based takeoff software for MEP contractors with a bi-directional link to Accubid that tracks lengths and counts in the same run13. Its feature list includes:
- AutoCount, which counts multiple items in a single search.
- Drawing Compare, to see what changed since the last revision and carry the existing takeoff onto the new sheet.
- A Drawing Legend that keeps descriptions, styles and quantities up to date.
- Conduit auto-routing: you define endpoints and pathways and it calculates lengths, including rises and drops.
- Takeoff from PDFs, scanned images and, with LiveCount 3D, from Revit, Tekla Structures and IFC models.
- Multi-user work on one set of drawings and ISO 27001 certification.
Trimble says LiveCount saves 20 to 30% of the time spent determining quantities compared with conventional methods3. That's the vendor's figure, not an independent measurement. In practice the takeoff is still the estimator's job: you set up what to count, run AutoCount and check what it found against the plans. For the different ways tools count symbols, see electrical takeoff software. If LiveCount AI is the feature you are pricing, our review of AI takeoff tools across the trades covers what automatic symbol detection gets right and where it still needs a reviewer.
Change orders: ChangeOrder and change management
On Classic, change orders live in Trimble Accubid ChangeOrder, a stand-alone product that draws from the contract estimate and shares Classic's database. Trimble lists over 40,000 material items, up to 9,500 pre-built assemblies, dynamic takeoffs and breakdowns by phase, system, area, drawing and bid item6. On Anywhere, the change management module is part of the subscription: it starts from your contract estimates, reuses assemblies from the original estimate priced for the change, handles list and net pricing with overhead and markups, and shows the status of every change at a glance2.
How much does Trimble Accubid cost?
Trimble doesn't publish a price for Accubid Classic, Accubid Anywhere or LiveCount, as of November 3, 2026. Every product page routes pricing questions to sales12. What Trimble does publish:
- TRA-SER for electrical contractors in the US and Canada: $1,260 per user per year, with an enterprise plan for teams of 5 or more by quote7.
- Training: virtual Accubid courses on Trimble's store run from $695 to $1,735 per seat, with a computerized electrical estimating course at $3,065910. The Accubid training guide lists each course.
So the real cost of Accubid electrical estimating software is whatever your quote says, plus training, and plus TRA-SER if you run Classic. When you ask for a quote, get these in writing: the price per named user, whether LiveCount and AI takeoff are included, whether material pricing is included or separate, the contract term, implementation and database setup fees, and training. Those are the lines that make two Accubid quotes hard to compare. If the quote is too high for the number of bids you run, some contractors skip the software and send overflow jobs to an outside electrical estimating service instead.
Accubid demo, download and support
How to get an Accubid demo
Use the “Request a demo” button on Trimble's Accubid Classic or Accubid Anywhere page. Trimble's pages offer a demo request rather than a self-serve trial12. Bring a real plan set from a recent bid so you see your own work, not a canned job.
Accubid download: Classic, Anywhere and Pro 16
There's no public Accubid download. Licensed Classic customers download the installer, including Accubid Classic Pro v16, from the software updates page of the Trimble Community Portal after signing in; Trimble says to call support at 800-234-3758 if you don't have a username85. Anywhere is managed by Trimble in the cloud; Trimble says all you need is an internet connection2. Avoid installers from file-sharing or “free download” sites: they aren't licensed, and Classic v16 signs in with a Trimble ID and a license your company's administrator assigns5.
Trimble Accubid support phone number
Trimble MEP Client Services supports Accubid during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. Trimble lists these contacts in its Accubid release notes11:
- Email: mepsupport@trimble.com
- Toll-free in North America: 1-800-234-3758
- Outside North America: 1-905-761-8800
Trimble's v16 guide points customers to the Trimble Community Portal to contact support, download software, ask questions and search the knowledge base5, and the Accubid product pages link to The Network, Trimble's customer community, which uses a Trimble ID sign-in12.
Learning Accubid
Trimble runs separate course tracks for Classic, Anywhere and LiveCount: fundamentals, expanded estimating, database management and change orders, all live and virtual910. The order matters, because most advanced courses require the fundamentals class first. Our page on Accubid courses and videos has each course, its price and what to take first. If you're still learning estimating itself, start with electrical estimating classes; the software makes more sense once you know what a takeoff and a bid summary are for.
Accubid alternatives
Alternatives fall into two groups, depending on which part of Accubid you want to replace.
Another estimating suite
McCormick Systems sells electrical estimating with built-in takeoff, over 55,000 items and 25,000 assemblies, Auto-count and a patented Auto Home Run13; McCormick doesn't publish a price, and Software Advice lists it from $300 per user a month14. Conest IntelliBid offers over 140,000 items and 500,000 assemblies in three editions, priced by edition and number of users15. See AmpCount vs McCormick and AmpCount vs IntelliBid, or the full list of estimating and takeoff software comparisons.
A faster count in front of Accubid
Many shops don't want to rebuild a database they've tuned for years. They want the counting to take less of the estimator's day. That's where AmpCount fits: it reads the legend on a vector PDF set, counts every device and fixture on every sheet, keeps uncertain marks out of the count until you confirm them and checks fixtures against the schedule. It exports quantities per drawing with your Accubid assembly codes, and it doesn't price, apply labor or route conduit. See the Accubid alternative comparison.
Questions about Accubid
Is Accubid Anywhere the same as Accubid Classic in the cloud?
No. They're separate products. Anywhere is Trimble's cloud estimating system with change management and Trade Service pricing included. Classic is the original installed system, and Trimble also sells a hosted Classic subscription, Estimating Essentials Hosted.
What is Accubid Pro?
Accubid Pro is the estimating module of Accubid Classic. Trimble's help articles refer to installing Accubid Pro and Change Order Pro, and to Accubid Classic Pro v16.
Is there an Accubid free trial?
Trimble's product pages offer a demo request and a sales contact rather than a self-serve trial, as of November 3, 2026.
Does Accubid include supplier pricing?
Anywhere includes material, labor and vendor pricing from Trade Service2. On Classic, TRA-SER is a separate subscription, listed at $1,260 per user per year for electrical contractors in the US and Canada7.
Can I count devices outside Accubid and bring the quantities in?
Yes, many estimators do. Count in a takeoff tool, export quantities per drawing, and enter them against your Accubid assemblies. Check with Trimble which import options your version supports.
Count the devices, check the numbers
AmpCount reads the legend on a vector PDF set, counts every electrical device and fixture on every sheet, keeps uncertain marks out of the count until you confirm them, and checks fixtures against the schedule. $149 a month or $1,490 a year for a team of up to 3, cancel anytime, full refund within 14 days.
