Estimating templates
Download-ready files for the paperwork around a bid: a takeoff sheet to count devices by sheet, an estimate that turns counts into material, labor and markup, and a proposal with scope and exclusions. Free to download, no account needed. Each page explains how to fill the template in.
Which template to use when
The three electrical templates follow the order of a bid. The electrical takeoff sheet comes first: one row per device and fixture type, a column per drawing sheet, and a check against the fixture schedule. Its totals feed the electrical estimate template, where your material prices, labor units and markups turn them into a price. The electrical bid proposal is what the GC receives: base bid, scope by spec section, exclusions, alternates and unit prices. The guide on how to bid electrical jobs covers the steps around them, from reading the documents to following up.
The construction estimate template is for jobs priced by CSI division instead of by device, such as a GC budget or a remodel where electrical is one line among several. For a quick number without a workbook, the electrical estimate calculator runs the same math in the browser. Before drawings are complete, a budget from electrical cost per square foot is a quicker starting point than a partial count. When counting large plan sets by hand is what slows the team down, the guide to commercial electrical estimating software compares the tools that take over from spreadsheets.
